Chatter, process damping, and chip segmentation in turning: A signal processing approach 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
An increasing number of aerospace components are manufactured from titanium and nickel alloys that are difficult to machine due to their thermal and mechanical properties. This limits the metal removal rates that can be achieved from the production process. However, under these machining conditions the phenomenon of process damping can be exploited to help avoid self-excited vibrations known as regenerative chatter. This means that greater widths of cut can be taken so as to increase the metal removal rate, and hence offset the cutting speed restrictions that are imposed by the thermo-mechanical properties of the material. However, there is little or no consensus as to the underlying mechanisms that cause process damping.The present study investigates two process damping mechanisms that have previously been proposed in the machining literature: the tool flank/workpiece interference effect, and the short regenerative effect. A signal processing procedure is employed to identify flank/workpiece interference from experimental data. Meanwhile, the short regenerative model is solved using a new frequency domain approach that yields additional insight into its stabilising effect. However, analysis and signal processing of the experimentally obtained data reveals that neither of these models can fully explain the increases in stability that are observed in practice. Meanwhile, chip segmentation effects were observed in a number of measurements, and it is suggested that segmentation could play an important role in the process-damped chatter stability of these materials. 相似文献

The dynamic processivity of individual T4 lysozyme molecules was monitored in the presence of either linear or cross-linked peptidoglycan substrates. Single-molecule monitoring was accomplished using a novel electronic technique in which lysozyme molecules were tethered to single-walled carbon nanotube field-effect transistors through pyrene linker molecules. The substrate-driven hinge-bending motions of lysozyme induced dynamic electronic signals in the underlying transistor, allowing long-term monitoring of the same molecule without the limitations of optical quenching or bleaching. For both substrates, lysozyme exhibited processive low turnover rates of 20-50 s(-1) and rapid (200-400 s(-1)) nonproductive motions. The latter nonproductive binding events occupied 43% of the enzyme's time in the presence of the cross-linked peptidoglycan but only 7% with the linear substrate. Furthermore, lysozyme catalyzed the hydrolysis of glycosidic bonds to the end of the linear substrate but appeared to sidestep the peptide cross-links to zigzag through the wild-type substrate. 相似文献

Let \(G\) be a locally compact, Hausdorff, étale groupoid whose unit space is totally disconnected. We show that the collection \(A(G)\) of locally-constant, compactly supported complex-valued functions on \(G\) is a dense \(*\) -subalgebra of \(C_c(G)\) and that it is universal for algebraic representations of the collection of compact open bisections of \(G\) . We also show that if \(G\) is the groupoid associated to a row-finite graph or \(k\) -graph with no sources, then \(A(G)\) is isomorphic to the associated Leavitt path algebra or Kumjian–Pask algebra. LC ESI FTICR MS of a sample of cediranib identified this pharmaceutical target molecule plus an additional 10 compounds of
interest, all of which were less than 10% total ion current (TIC) peak intensity relative to cediranib. LC FTICR tandem mass
spectrometry using electron induced dissociation (EID) has been achieved and has proven to be the best way to generate useful
product ion information for all of these singly protonated molecules. Cediranib [M + H]+ fragmented by EID to give 29 product ions whereas QTOF-CID generated only one very intense product ion, and linear ion trap-CID,
which generated 10 product ions, but all with poor S/N. Twenty-six of the EID product ions were unique to this fragmentation
technique alone. By considering the complementary LC-EID and LC-CID data together, all 10 unknown compounds were structurally
characterized and proven to be analogous to cediranib. Of particular importance, EID produced unique product ion information
for one of the low level cediranib analogues that enabled full characterization of the molecule such that the presence of
an extra propylpyrrolidine group was discovered and proven to be located on the pyrrolidine ring of cediranib, solving an
analytical problem that could not be solved by collision induced dissociation (CID). Thus, it has been demonstrated that EID
is in harmony with the chromatography duty-cycle and the dynamic concentration range of synthetic compounds containing trace
impurities, providing crucial analytical information that cannot be obtained by more traditional methodologies. 相似文献

The problem of obtaining the underlying linear dynamic compliance matrix in the presence of nonlinearities in a general multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) system can be solved using the conditioned reverse path (CRP) method introduced by Richards and Singh (1998 Journal of Sound and Vibration, 213(4): pp. 673–708). The CRP method also provides a means of identifying the coefficients of any nonlinear terms which can be specified a priori in the candidate equations of motion. Although the CRP has proved extremely useful in the context of nonlinear system identification, it has a number of small issues associated with it. One of these issues is the fact that the nonlinear coefficients are actually returned in the form of spectra which need to be averaged over frequency in order to generate parameter estimates. The parameter spectra are typically polluted by artefacts from the identification of the underlying linear system which manifest themselves at the resonance and anti-resonance frequencies. A further problem is associated with the fact that the parameter estimates are extracted in a recursive fashion which leads to an accumulation of errors. The first minor objective of this paper is to suggest ways to alleviate these problems without major modification to the algorithm. The results are demonstrated on numerically-simulated responses from MDOF systems. In the second part of the paper, a more radical suggestion is made, to replace the conditioned spectral analysis (which is the basis of the CRP method) with an alternative time domain decorrelation method. The suggested approach – the orthogonalised reverse path (ORP) method – is illustrated here using data from simulated single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) and MDOF systems. 相似文献

This work is concerned with the performance of a single degree of freedom electromagnetic energy harvester when subjected to a broadband white noise base acceleration. First, using the Fokker–Planck–Kolmogorov equation, it is shown that Duffing-type nonlinearities can be used to reduce the size of energy harvesting devices without affecting their power output. This is then verified using the technique of Equivalent Linearisation. Second, it is shown analytically that the optimum load resistance of the device is different to that which is dictated by the principle of impedance matching. Numerous organic and inorganic laboratory standards were gathered from nine European and North American laboratories and were analyzed for their delta(18)O values with a new on-line high temperature pyrolysis system that was calibrated using Vienna standard mean ocean water (VSMOW) and standard light Antartic precipitation (SLAP) internationally distributed reference water samples. Especially for organic materials, discrepancies between reported and measured values were high, ranging up to 2 per thousand. The reasons for these discrepancies are discussed and the need for an exact and reliable calibration of existing reference materials, as well as for the establishment of additional organic and inorganic reference materials is stressed.
